Silesian geophysics observatoryThe observatory is a wooden structure, erected in 1927. It was part of the first European regular netwoek of seismological stations. The first to do research here was a known German seismological expert, professor Carl Mainka, a lecturer at Strasburg and Gentyga universities. Seismographs constructed by professor Mainka noted earthquakes from all over the world. This equipment is in the observatory today, and Mainka’s scientific output is proved by numerous documents (among others glass plates of his observations). Now the buildings hause the Silesian geophysics observatory.
