Castle Vikštejn

The community of Radkov is located near the Moravice natural park around the valley of the river Moravice. There is a Middle Ages fortress named Vikštejn there. It was first mentioned in 1377, when the Opava Region was being divided and Vikštejn became a part of the Vikštejn Estate. Vikštejn was founded in the mid 13th century. It gained its present look after extensive reconstruction in the first half of the 16th century. It was considered to be the most invincible castle in the Opava Region. It was mostly destroyed in 1648, so that the Swedish army could not use it. Despite the 18th century reconstruction, only ruins have survived to our times.
