Commemoration of EichendorffIn the old Łubowice park there are the remains of a Baroque palace (erected in 1786), rebuilt in the Neogothic style about 1860, ruined in 1945. The property used to belong to the Eichendorff family. Joseph von Eichendorff(1788-1857), the famous romantic poet, was born here. In a former school building there is a museum hall and an archaeological exhibition of the city of Łużyce culture from the 9th-6th century B.C., the biggest of this kind in Poland, taking up 25 hectares. One of Eichendorff’s monuments is situated in Racibórz, at Mickiewicza street.
