St. John the Babtist church

Location: Racibórz-Ostróg, ul. Morawska
Bicycle trails: 356 - black

It is a monumental, Neogothic church, erected after 1860. The first Ostróg temple was mentioned in writing in 1307. Until the turn of 19th and 20th centuries it was an important pilgrimage site in Silesia, thanks to the graceful wonderful painting of Jesus of Sorrows. This painting on a board (dating back to 17th century) today can be found in an aisle of St. Cross church. There are beautiful stained glass windows in the church, created by Franz Borgias Mayer of Munich, The Final Judgement amongst others. Close to the church there is the oldest existing Racibórz cemetery.
