Education

As far as education and care services in Racibórz go, there are both public and private centres run by the local government or private companies. In 2016 in Racibórz there were 3 nurseries, 18 kindergartens, 10 primary schools.

Moreover, in Racibórz there are several secondary schools:

Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących Nr 2 w Raciborzu (comprehensive high school complex)
Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących Mistrzostwa Sportowego (sports school complex)
Centrum Kształcenia Ustawicznego i Zawodowego Nr 1 i 2 (centre for continuing and vocational education)
ZESPÓŁ SZKÓŁ EKONOMICZNYCH (ECONOMICS SCHOOL COMPLEX)
Zespół Szkół Specjalnych w Raciborzu (special needs school complex),
Liceum Ogólnokształcące dla Dorosłych "Żak" (comprehensive high school for adults).

A part of schools listed above offer vocational education in such specializations as economics, mechanics and building/construction.

Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących Mistrzostwa Sportowego (the Sports School Complex) is responsible for developing both the sport talents and intellectual potential of its students. The school attracts the most promising sporting talents (girls and boys) from the region. The Sports School Complex has a very diverse sports grounds with athletic grounds, saunas, gyms, an indoor swimming pool, a modern sports hall and – of course – well-equipped classrooms. Racibórz offers also higher education that is provided by Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Zawodowa w Raciborzu (the State School of Higher Vocational Education in Racibórz). It attracts secondary school graduates with its high level of education and diverse educational offer including 9 courses of study:

  • Automation and Robotics,
  • Architecutre and Urban Planning,
  • Administration,
  • Artistic education,
  • Philologies: English, German, Slavic.

The Tourism and Recreation course of study will be opened for the first time in the  forthcoming academic year - 2016/2017. 

The school holds an important position in the overall strategic development of Racibórz. Since its beginnings the school has developed a close, multi-faceted cooperation with the authorities of both the town of Racibórz and Poviat Raciborski, which gave rise to a joint programme for the development of Ziemia Raciborska (the Racibórz area). PWSZ closely cooperates also with numerous local organizations and companies. In 2010 an agreement on cooperation in research and development activities was signed between PWSZ and RAFAKO S.A., covering such areas as joint RTD projects, personnel development, internships for students etc.

PWSZ, together with the Town Hall of Racibórz and other partners set up an Innovation Platform in the Renewable Energy Sector.
